2008 Symposium Series The Academy invited its members to an address by the Chief Justice of Australia, the Honourable Robert French on 1 December 2008, hosted by the Federal Court of Australia at the Federal Court Building, Melbourne. The Chief Justice's address focused on the object of the Academy, which is to bring together members whose background is from academia, legal practice and the judiciary, drawing attention to issues and projects in the law that would benefit from a focus of this type.. The forum was supported by four panelists who represented the three elements of the Academy's membership: The Honourable Chief Justice Marilyn Warren AC, Supreme Court of Victoria; Professor Anne Rees, Head of School, School of Law, Deakin University; Mr John Digby QC, Chairman, Victorian Bar Council; and Mr Danny Barlow, President Elect, Law Institute of Victoria.
